Term 3 - Storage Devices

Term 3 - Storage Devices

 Statement of Inquiry:
Data storage has evolved through technological advances in the medium of storage devices

Introduction:
There are many types of storage devices. Storage devices are a very essential part of the computer. We use storage devices in our every day lives. Without storage devices we would not be able to save files on our desktop computer. Information can be stored in a device. A storage device can hold information, process information or both.

Global Context:
 Information Literacy:
My research is a reliable source as my target audience are Year 7's. The English used in booklet is simple and there are more visuals to attract the Year 7's. I did not use any "hard'' English and if I had to I would put it in bold and write the definition somewhere else on the page. I put my information in bullet points to make my information easier for the year 7's to read. I also put many visuals on the front cover and big text to attract the student as younger children like more visuals and don't really like to read a lot.

Communication:
The booklet is presented very easy. There are many visuals and the same font size in every inner page. Each inner page has simple bullet points. I used different types of font styles for my booklet such as Broadway BT, Juice ITC and Calibri.

Reflection:
I picked design two over design one because design 2 has a lot more detail and effort in it. Design 2 has a better attraction as I used a 3D object and stuck it on my cover page. For design 2, the storage devices I used were a DVD and a Blu-Ray Player. I picked the Blu-ray Player because it seemed interesting and I wanted to know more about what it does. The DVD was a choice however it isn’t a very “different” storage device to what others would pick as it’s a popular storage device.

Tech Fair

Tech Fair

Ideas:
- Night vision googles
- Light up skirt and crown
-Wall-E
-Moving skateboard

Researched Idea:
- Tutu LED light up skirt with a light up flower crown.

Paragraph on article:
- The product or software developed item we're using is ''LED Lights". To make the LED lights work we must put batteries into the LED Lights and switch it on. LED stands for ''Light Emitting Diode" and is invented by Oleg Losev, James R. Biard and Nick Holonyak. The LED Lights come in all colors including multi-color. LED's have many advantages over heated light sources including lower energy consumption, longer lifetime, improved physical robustness, smaller size, and faster switching.

Reflection on Research:
I think LED Lights are a great idea for something "tech-y". We decided to use LED Lights as our tech fair idea because we wanted something enjoyable and amusing for show therefore we thought of a light up clothing/accessory. We're going to create a light up skirt with LED Lights and a flower crown as a matching accessory.
